North Lochs Community Association (NLCA) is excited to announce the launch of a new community information service for residents of North Lochs. The service is designed to keep the community up to date with local events, community information and volunteering opportunities.

The service is free and available to people aged 16 and over who live in North Lochs (Grimshader, Ranish, Crossbost, Leurbost, Achmore).

Funding for the project was provided by Cellnex UK through their community fund associated with the Scottish Government’s 4G Infill (S4GI) programme. This award-winning programme deployed a mobile mast in Ranish in 2021, connecting this area to 4G connectivity for the first time.

NLCA are encouraging all local residents to sign up and receive local community updates by text message and email. Updates will include local events, community safety information and opportunities to get involved to help with community activities.

Peter Macinnes, NLCA Board member, said:

Thanks to the generous funding from Cellnex UK, we have been able to develop this new service to help people in North Lochs stay informed about community events and activities. NLCA will be giving out leaflets to all houses and businesses in the area which will let people who don’t have access to the internet, or who don’t use email, sign up with a paper form to make sure everyone in the community can choose to be connected.”

Jonathan Freeman, Chief Strategy & Regulatory Officer at Cellnex said:

“At Cellnex UK we are proud to provide infrastructure which enables people to connect. As part of our social value activity we are delighted to play our part in bringing a vital digital service to the community of North Lochs. We look forward to continuing to support North Lochs and other communities across Scotland via our ongoing operation of the S4GI sites and the associated community fund.”
